With the Major League Baseball All-Star Game a little over a month away there are some interesting dynamics currently going on. In the National League, Manny Ramirez is currently the four leading vote getter for outfielders with 442,763 votes. That's about 10,000 more than the fifth place vote getter Mike Cameron of the Milwaukee Brewers. In the American league things are not nearly as bad...yet. Alex Rodriguez is currently in 3rd place for votes for third basemen. He has 245,414 which is around 50,000 behind Michael Young of the Texas Rangers. Rodriquez, barring a big push, will probably miss the all-star game. Ramirez, however, will probably make it, and he'll do it having played less than 30 games before the all-star game since he's currently serving a 50 game suspension for steroid use. In a game that is trying to heavily punish steroid users and "clean themselves up," how can they allow admitted steroid users to participate in an all-star event, especially when between these two guys they'll have missed almost 100 games of this season combined. The season is only 80 games old at the break. Things like this are why people are starting to stop watching baseball, and why Major League Soccer will soon be the summer sport of choice.
